KristalBond Vs. Other Window Tinted Film

How KristalBond is different from others window tinted film:
  • Does not create glare to other buildings
  • Does not trap heat in the city
  • Does not have oxidation concerns such as de-metallizing
  • Retains heat during winter
  • Retains a high visible light transmission for daylight harvesting
  • Can be applied on selected glass panes particularly those facing East and West

KristalBond Application

  • KristalBond is retrofitted on the glass surface facing the interior.
  • Best retrofitted after major renovation works prior to installation of grills.
  • Scaffolding may be required for glass over 5m high.

KristalBond can be coated seamlessly on: 
  • Large glass areas (no size limitation)
  • Curved glass
A flexible coating, during application KristalBond can be coated around clamps, bolts and handles.

  • Frosted glass (frosted side)
  • Reflective (mirror) glass (coated side)

    Our binder is composed primarily of silicone dioxide, the same material as glass. This makes KristalBond compatible with the glass surface and having similar attributes such as:

  • Durability
    With its strong binding properties and glass-like characteristic, KristalBond’s durability exceeds 10 years. 

    Cross linking of materials make KristalBond coating stable compared to ordinary coating.

    Through Weathering Test in accordance with ISO 16474-2 : 2013, using the filtered Xenon-arc, KristalBond’s glass coating was exposed to intense radiation for 3000 hours which is exceeding 10 years of sun exposure (according to industrial standards). KristalBond passed the test with minimal change to its performance.

  • Clarity
    The use of nano sized ingredients make KristalBond naturally clear and non-reflective. The KristalBond coat also smoothes the surface by filling up micro size pits and unevenness, enhancing the glass clarity further.
  • Hardness
    Using the pencil scratch method in accordance to Scratch Hardness Test JIS K5600-5-4:1999, KristalBond has a hardness of 6H, surpassing tint films which range from 3 – 4H.
  • Self-levelling
    KristalBond is able to self-level evenly on glass surfaces of any position with little effects to gravity. The self leveling process occurs during the first 5 minutes after it has been applied. Whether applied on a glass ceiling or wall, its performance remains the same.

    Kristalbond coated 6mm clear float glass samples tested for ultraviolet transmission testing and protection factor testing. Test results revealed a protection factor of 348.

KristalBond Case Study

  • Malaysia is a tropical country, which means that the climate is that of a hot summer all-year-round until it rains. As such, high quality glass coating capable of shielding against UV and infrared light becomes indispensable, thus keeping heat out, becomes indispensable. It is even more so given that since use of air-conditioning is largely inevitable in such a climate, the use of coated glass with effective heat and UV light reduction also help save energy and is a more environmental-friendly option than without.

  • Temperature Difference Study:
    Three temperature wireless data loggers are used to measure the temperature at different sections of one of the hotel in Malaysia; Outside; Inside without KristalBond coating; Inside with KristalBond coating.  
    The devices are placed on the west side of one of the hotel in Malaysia where it is the hottest.

    Outside: On a fair weather day in Malaysia, the average temperature outside one of the hotel in Malaysia ranges from 36°C - 40°C

    Non-coated glass: Inside one of the hotel in Malaysia, with air-conditioning the temperature drops ±6°C but fluctuates between 32°C - 28°C following the similar pattern of the temparature outside.

    KristalBond coated glass: With KristalBond coating, the temperature inside one of the hotel in Malaysia is further reduced to a consistent 25°C and remains stabilized (according to air-conditioning temperature setting).
